My professional life is spent in banking, in a senior role at the Colombo branch of a major Chinese bank, working every day across Chinese and English: credit documentation, regulatory submissions, contracts, corporate files and correspondence between Sri Lankan and Chinese institutions. The Chinese in my translations is not classroom Chinese — it is the working language of finance, law and administration, used under professional stakes daily.
Alongside banking, I read law, with particular focus on the Sri Lankan legal system — the courts, statutes and procedures into which many of the documents I certify are ultimately submitted. Knowing what a receiving court or registry does with a document changes how carefully you translate it.
Certified translations are issued as formatted documents mirroring the original, with the bilingual confirmation 「翻译确认无误」, official stamp, signature, registration number, and the source document attached — the format receiving authorities in both countries are accustomed to processing.
